Nexus Mods :: News :: Site News
Upcoming maintenance: 9 January 2023
On 9 January 2023 we will be performing scheduled maintenance which will mean the entire site as well as our forums will be unavailable for a time.

"We're migrating our database to an upgraded system. This is planned maintenance that will take place 9 January 2023 starting at 05:00 AM (GMT). As this is an involved process, we estimate it to take several hours, potentially longer - somewhere between 12 and 24 hours."

Good day, all! A late start for me today! :sn-3: Now that I've finished all my holiday screen shots, I can do my long planned reset of my SSE build. Just some minor edits to it - removing about 3 mods and adding in 175 or so (that's really not so major - as most are armor/weapon/clothing mods or follower mods - only a very few actually impact gameplay mechanics - and those in only minor ways - just tweaks really). Due to my removing 3 mod, however, I will need to possibly rebuild a couple of merges - which means some additional editing in xEdit to compensate for changed FormIDs; not a problem, just time consuming. And, of course, since I am removing 3 mods, I will need to start a new game. One major change I am thinking of (and which I almost did last time) is to replace RS Children with The Kids Are Alright Renewal by Triptherift. Especially now that I've seen many of the children in one place together, I can see how little variation there actually is between all the RS Children kids. So, that will be a major change (even though I hate major changes).

On a final note - remember about the Nexus maintenance coming up on January 9. Nexus will be down for 12 to 24 hours due to some major changes they are making to their system.

Altbert wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:28 pm I'm sorry Steve, but I can't keep up with reading your stories. There's so much else to do. Couldn't you publish the stories a couple of days apart? Maybe a week or so?
LOL! They are a week apart already (well, the topics are). But don't worry if you can't keep up - they aren't going anywhere (and no quizzes, either! :sn-3: )

The Miscellaneous stories are quick reads and very short; the Etienne and Hador stories - well, they are considerably longer.
Yep, I know! But ... there was the LOD issue, and now I am looking into adding mod related LOD as an optional part of the mod, maybe even creating a fomod for it or a separate mod. Also, some of the scripts I wrote where not completely to my liking, and that needs additional testing. Compiling a script may succeed, but that doesn't mean the outcome may be what I want. And then there's also the writing of Ysmir's story and a few other mods I have in mind, such as porting "Courting and Marriage" to SE, but with dialogue instead of a spell. Priorities, priorities, priorities ...

The whole reason to have multiple clones, Albert - LOL!
One for each different task - well, until they revolt and refuse to do it!

The easiest way would probably be to just play the game with the most essential mods and stop adding and creating mods. But ... I don't think I can live with that! Although I try to keep it as basic (vanilla) as possible.

We are in the same boat, Altbert. Creating, searching, installing and playing mods fill much of my leisure time, too (creating stuff holds the lion's share). Recently, I read the About Me page of a mod author stating that he makes "3-week playtime binges": https://www.nexusmods.com/users/56266497
I think I will try to play the game at least once a weak (really playing and not just start the game to test the current progress of a project).

Trying to find all the hidden crofts of the game! Love it! When testing mods I always take side paths, and not only just playing the mod itself.

Trying to find those hidden crofts in the game, I regularly have to use hex editors, decompilers and disassemblers. But, results are not always consistent, and will need much of testing.

Good day, all! Just a reminder that Nexus will be down, so if you need to download any mods, do it today or you'll have to wait until sometime Tuesday.

Good day! Well, Nexus is back up and running - that was some really quick work on their part in completing the maintenance. Kudos to them!
