Gooooooood Morning Tamriel!
Ah'vrie wishes you well. It is Middas the 6th of Hearthfires and one of those very still predawns where you can hear your own heartbeat. It is always disconcerting to wake with your very first thoughts being is this one injured? Anyway, the blessed moons have set and it is time once again for this one to tend the inn for our most honored guests. Excuse please while the fires are stoked, and fresh water is put to the boil...
Our brew of the day is Tamuka mu Zimbabwe, and the biscuits are almond biscotti. Checking the hot sheets we have 49 new with all the usual suspects. Let's see what catches the eye of an old cat today over a fresh cuppa.
Nikephorros released Epic Oldrim - Original Legendary Colours as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... mods/99952
"This mod changes the colourful Skyrim Special Edition colours into the original dark Oldrim colours from Legendary Edition. Every single Imagespace from Special Edition has been changed to match the look and feel of Oldrim as close as possible."
Ah'vrie must be honest. This is the first time the old cat has seen side by side comparisons of the oldrim image spaces next to the SSE image spaces. Oldrim really did look better. There have been issues mentioned with ENB though and this is a first mod... Thanks, have a cookie
AlterAsc released CFTO - Simple Hold Names as a first mod. Welcome
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100027
"Changes hold names to major city names in carriage driver dialogue" See a need, fill a need. The soul of modding. (Ah'vrie still mixes up Morthal and Solitude after a decade of playing ) Thanks, have a cookie
Goatdog420 released Cliffside Estate as a second mod.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100045
Oh look another TARDIS has landed in Skyrim Exactly what you expect LOL thanks
JJerem released Imperial Stable - Stonewall Replacer
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... mods/99977
"Small mod that replaces the stonewall meshes of the imperial stable with the farmhouse stonewall meshes. No ESP" And nicely done at that. The vanilla textures do look more like a dung pile than a field stone wall. This one is getting much better. Have a cookie
mathy79 released Carts Remodeled
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100040
"Lightweight remake of the carts models and textures"
The old cat wishes there were some comparison shots. It's nice to see Mathy producing new work after being away for a few years, but these last two mods look decidedly vanilla. It's hard to see any improvement worth the installation. Thanks anyway, welcome back.
rhonjhonson released Metamorphic RocksE
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100018
"This is a texture replacer for rocks and mountains. Makes them look a bit more detailed."
Some of the 'weathered' textures look really good, but the old cat does not like parts of the color choices being inconsistent. Pass but thanks
StoneSpiralGaming released Weapons Don't Clip Cloaks
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100057
"A simple tweak to the XPMSE skeleton mesh to prevent 2H weapons, Bows and Quivers clipping though Cloaks"
Cloaks and scabbards have always been an issue, and what was old is new again. When Nick Noodles released Cloaks of Skyrim, the weapon nodes were positioned to minimize clipping and people complained they were 'floating' so they were pulled tighter to the body and we got the level of clipping we have now. This mod looks much better from the back, as long as you also don't question how they're mounted and to what... This mod seems to return us to the original positions, and It does look better. Thanks
ToosTruus released The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal SE - Moveable Lanterns and Signs
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100019
"Just a mod to have lanterns and signs moveable for The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal SE."
Woo-Hoo... Blowing in the wind comes the the desert, using Wizkid's meshes with permission. We'll give this one 2 cookies
Okay, we'll finish up with a couple of animation mods with a word of caution. The old cat doesn't normally include animations in the reviews because you really need to see them in game, and one of today's mods illustrates why.
Vanargand Animations II - Female Idle Walk And Run by Verolevi
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/100000
"Complete remake of the Vanargand female idle walk and run. Both a no requirement replacer version and a "Conditional Armor Type Animations" version are provided."
The old cat tested the original mod in game two years ago. The actual animations were quite nice, but the 'start/stop loop' was... jerky. NPCs would miss a step, stub a toe... come up with your own description. It was easy to ignore when a single NPC would stop, turn, and 'stutter' before changing direction, but when you saw several doing it in say the Whiterun market... well the old cat removed their animation mods pretty quick. Going by the videos those issues have been ironed out and these look really good. But the caveat is they need to be seen in game. Have a cookie on account
Elsawirr released two today as a follow up to hunterborn animations from 2 days ago
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... user+files
Immersive Hunting Animations, and Immersive Carcass Carrying
"Step up your hunting game with Immersive Hunting Animations, a mod that adds hunting animations to Skyrim. This mod features a variety of animations, such as skinning, harvesting, and butchering, that will make you feel like you're truly hunting in the wild."
That will serve for both. Make sure to read the requirements , these are OAR replacers, and function as a standalone version of Hunterborn animations. The carcas carry mod also removes the carry weight penalty, and the old cat is always worried what dark issues are hiding behind the word Immersive... Needs testing, but not for old cats.
And that will do for today. The fires are stoked, the kettles scrubbed, and the floors are... Where did Ah'vrie put that mop? We-B-Open!
