Gooooooood Morning Tamriel!
Ah'vrie wishes you well. It is Tirdas the 30th of Morning Star and a crisp predawn here on warm sands. The blessed moons have set, the paths are closed and it is once again time for this one to tend the inn for our most honored guests. Excuse please while the fires are stoked, and fresh water is put to the boil.
Our brew of the day is Ristretto, and the biscuits are Zurich. Checking the hot sheets we have 38 new with lots of bimbos, himbos, accessories, patches and goofs. Let's see what catches the eye's of an old cat over a fresh cuppa...
Rpgrobot released Dawnstar Renovated
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110458
"Overhauls Dawnstar's layout and interiors to be more distinctive." Taste is subjective, and it's obvious that a lot of work went into this. Personally the old cat sees stairs to no where, retaining walls and scaffolding that serve no purpose... The old cat like choice, but only where it makes sense. You'll need to look for yourselves. Pass
Skyrim is Luminous by DrJacopo
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110471
"Skyrim is Luminous is a comprehensive lighting mod that preserves the developers' vision while illuminating many of the fires and candles that previously didn’t emit light."
Now this is an interesting change. The Doctor took Lumosity as a base and added close to 2K light sources so that all candles, sconces, and fires now emit light. However in keeping with the original devs vision, none of the original sources have been moved or removed (like ELFX, RS, RLO) This is a new take on lighting, as it maintains the original focus on leading you towards the story points, instead of stressing realism.
The downsides are just as obvious. The first thing the old cat noticed was a complete lack of shadow sources. This is expected with all of the additional light sources added to the rooms. On one hand the old cat likes the concept of 'vanilla+' On the other hand, the rooms are much less dramatic, and the lack of key shadow sources makes everything appear... flat, blah, meh? I think this needs to be seen in game. While the old cat understands the concept behind the mod, vanilla lighting was never the games strong suit.
Halffaces - tankard replacer - Metal
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110434
"Tankard. Just a tankard. Metal. That's all " Worth a look. The old cat would have preferred the blackened filigree not smudge the cast pewter in such an obvious and noticeable pattern. Thanks, but pass
StoneSpiralGaming released Market Stalls - Animated
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110246
"A Base Object Swapper based Mesh Replacer for Market Stalls with vanilla Texture Paths"
Based on Rally's Market Stalls - Animated!, and using his meshes with permission, this mod does exactly the same thing, but maintains vanilla texture paths so it will work with any replacer / overhaul that doesn't change the mesh. This one gets a cookie. Sometimes vanilla IS really good enough. Thanks
Vaiula released fallforestshrub01 retexture
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110433
"Retexture of the fallforest shrub from Riften" available in 1,2,and 4K in green, yellow, orange, and red. includes LODs for Dyndolod.
These look quite nice in comparison to vanilla, but lets face it that bar is not very high LOL. It might just be the included pictures, but the leaves don't appear to have a lot of detail for a 4K plant. They need to be seen in game. Orange would be the most fitting color for a vanilla replacer, but we always love having choices. Thanks, have a cookie
We'll finish up with Snazzy Interiors - JK's Palace of the Kings by gutmaw
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecial ... ods/110339
"Add-on to JK's Palace of the Kings that remodels the areas that JK didn't cover...both upstairs living quarters, and the Barracks/Bloodworks" Classic snazzy, lots of carpets, drapes, plants... Snazzy Thanks The old cat thinks if Gutmaw is going to start modding mods this just became a life long hobby LOL.
The fires are stoked, the kettles scrubbed, and the floors are swept. Have a seat and the wenches will serve you. We-B-Open!
