Modding on the Spectrum

I added the "Remastered" topic prefix to the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewforum.php?f=19]Oblivion - Mods and Modding[/url] and [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewforum.php?f=18]Oblivion - General Discussion[/url] forums. This makes it easier for you to distinguish between topics for the classic (old) version of Oblivion and topics for the remastered version of Oblivion. I have also changed the forum descriptions to make it clear that both versions of Oblivion can be discussed in both forums.

Regarding Game Spotlight, I linked the Skyrim and Fallout 4 subforums for now. I'm thinking of adding one or two more (upcoming) games to it in the future.

Yes, "here" is linked to the "About Modding on the Spectrum" thread. I already use this thread for smaller news regarding the forum. So I pragmatically gave it another purpose[nbsp];).

Recently, I received a message asking me why there aren't any basic questions in the FAQ like the "what is the goal and purpose of the forum" or "what does the name of the forum mean". It's the default FAQ that comes with the forum software of the board and any changes to it could be overwritten by updates of the forum software. But I've found a workaround: I hid the default FAQ and created a [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/app.php/faq]custom one[/url] using the [url=https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/pages/]Pages[/url] extension.

Guess what I forgot to mention in the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewtopic.php?p=290#p290]User Guide[/url]? That you don't need to be a member to write a post since May 6, 2023. The first section of the guide is "Writing your first posts" now and I moved "Becoming a member" to the bottom.


Aside from that, I decluttered the "Infos" submenu of the navigation bar to reduce information overload.

I refined the main post of this thread incorporating our long-term goal and the main purpose of the board and giving you a brief overview of the main discussion hubs. Furthermore, the text is more logically structured now.

You may have noticed that I restructured the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewforum.php?f=1]Forum Related Stuff[/url] section.

Why: The "Announcements" and "Feedback & Suggestions" sections could be overlooked easily because they were subforums of another subforum.

So [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewforum.php?f=3]Feedback & Suggestions[/url] got its standalone subforum and I unified the announcements and the forum information topics in one single area, the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewforum.php?f=8]Information & Announcements[/url] section (recent announcements appear above the topics of this section).

I updated the "Becoming a member" section of the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewtopic.php?p=290#p290]User Guide[/url] taking the recent changes to the signup process* into account.

As a side note, you can now see a list of similar topics at the bottom of each thread. This is done via the [url=https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/extension/precise_similar_topics/]Precise Similar Topics[/url] extension.

I took the time to rewrite the [url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewtopic.php?p=290#p290]user guide[/url] to make it more user-friendly. It now includes the registration process and covers writing of your first posts. Some parts that belonged to the "About Modding on the Spectrum" topic are now part of the user guide like the "[url=https://modding-on-the-spectrum.com/viewtopic.php?p=290#Overview%20of%20the%20forum's%20areas]Overview of the forum's areas[/url]". At the beginning of the user guide is an index so you can jump to the info of the guide that is relevant to you.
