The maximum dimension of a profile picture is 120 x 120 px with a file size of ca. 12 KB. If the file size of your profile is too big, you can compress it using an image compression program like Riot.

The avatar and the user information are displayed on the right side in the threads. You can change the position under User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit display options. Choose "Left" or "Right" next to Post profile side.
