Extraordinary Games?

Post by Altbert »

Getting away from the Elder Scrolls games, as written in another topic, I often turn to games like Eastshade. In Eastshade the player is a painter travelling to the island of Eastshade by ship. Shortly before arriving there, the ship sinks and the player washes ashore with only his easel.

However, this is not a review. I have created two guides for Eastshade, "Games, even remotely, resembling Eastshade", one with family friendly games and one with more mature games:

Games, even remotely, resembling Eastshade
Games, even remotely, resembling Eastshade Two

I haven't played all games in the above mentioned lists, but I could certainly recommend various games from those lists:
Aporia: Beyond the Valley
Arktwend (requires Morrowind; by SureAI)
Cradle
Dear Esther
Eastshade
Enderal: The Shards of Order (requires 32-bit Skyrim; by SureAI)
Enderal: Forgotten Stories (requires 64-bit Skyrim; by SureAI)
Firmament (by Cyan Worlds)
Haven Moon
Journey
Leaving Lindow (prequel to Eastshade)
Myar Aranth (requires Morrowind; by SureAI)
Nehrim (requires Oblivion; by SureAI)
Obduction (by Cyan Worlds)
Paperbark
Papetura
Submerged
Submerged: Hidden Depths
The Talos Principle
The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna
The Talos Principle 2
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
URU: Complete Chronicles (by Cyan Worlds)
Valley
What Remains of Edith Finch
XING: The Land Beyond

I played Enderal and imho this is better than Skyrim and I also played Nehrim (like Enderal but for Oblivion)

During my break from Skyrim SE, I have been playing The Talos Principle again. I never paid much attention to all the easter eggs in the game, but this time I did. One of the easter eggs, "Message in a Bottle", contains a note with the following text:

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary system, and those who don’t.

Two robots are standing in front of Picasso’s painting. One says: “Seems like something went wrong during printer driver installation …”

Two atoms are walking down the street together. The first atom says: “Hey, I think I just lost an electron!”. “Are you sure?” asks the second atom. The first atom replies: “Yeah, I’m positive!”.

By the way, I made some small additions to my list of games.

There's a big hype about Bethesda's new game Starfield. While I'm not interested in space games, not even if it's from Bethesda, I have four other games on my wishlist: The Talos Principle II, Firmament, Treasure Hunter 2 and The Wayward Realms. Most interested in Firmament by Cyan as I'm a big fan of the Myst/Riven series and Obduction. Less interested in The Wayward Realms, as it ressembles games like Skyrim, and sometimes I want to take a break from Skyrim and I like puzzle games like The Talos Principle, Haven Moon and XING.

hi if you want to escape a bit and have fun, i recommend deadpoly (the Legacy version)
it is very good and you can relax for a nice 30 mins here and there, picking up objects, fighting a few zombies from time to time, and collecting different types (and colours) of toys :)

I was browsing the internet today and found a game that reminds me a lot of the last Bethesda game:

Spacebourne 2
The game is still WIP and early access (Buy on Steam 19,99 Euro)
I found a playable free version on GOG. ( )

Edit by Selene310187: I removed the download link. Please don't post any links to sites with pirated content which often contains malware.

You can use this and test the game. But if you like it, you should buy it. Not only because of the patches and updates.
But what is special about the game?
Well, the outstanding thing is the team. It consists of one person. Burak Dabak, the game is also distributed by him. But the game is already called together with Starfield and No mans Sky. A magazine GameStar calls it the little brother of Star Citizen and Starfield.
More details can be found in the video I linked.

The download link, which is now removed, led to GOGUnlocked, a site where pirated GOG games can be downloaded. The site is not safe to use. Please don't post these kind of links in general.

Sorry for that. I always thought it is owned by GOG.com. Their Technical support Link gets you to GOG.com Won´t happen again. But I think this next link is legal :sn-22: :
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1646 ... eBourne_2/
This is the place where I now got my version that I want to keep.
At the moment it cost Euro 19,50

I think I mentioned this once elsewhere:
I avoid puzzles in games where I can. Well, some are unavoidable for the progress of the game. But if I know that there are a lot of puzzles in a game, then that is a criterion for exclusion.

Shouldn't be mentioned but all legally purchased via Steam, GOG or Epic Games. Even if a post of mine might have suggested otherwise :sn-15:

So my list of games is rather unspectacular and reflects what games are for me: Entertainment and pastime.

Here then
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout 3
Fallout 4
Fallout 76
Wastlander
Wastelander 2
Morrowind
Oblivion
Skyrim LE
Skyrim SE
Elex
Elex 2
The Outer Worlds
Control (yes, I know, this has some puzzles)
Alien Isolation
Pillars of the Earth
Kingdom come deliverance
Borderlands
Prey
Rise of the Tomb Raider (I don't play that often, you can guess why)
Dishonored
Doom
Scars above

These are only a few, there are still some unplayed games in my pile of shame that are not listed here.
