If you need inspiration, you can look at the custom BBCodes in the Customisation Database of phpBB.

Altbert wrote: Sat Dec 24, 2022 1:09 amBut I couldn't manage to install my preferred style.
Here are the steps I took to install and activate the custom style of the board:

After I downloaded it, I copied the SE_Gamer_Dark folder from the archive to the style folder (where the "prosilver" and "all" folders are located). I opened the Administration Control Panel, navigated to the CUSTOMIZE tab and clicked on "Install Styles" under STYLE MANAGEMENT on the left side. Then I ticked the check box on the right side on and confirmed by clicking on the "Install styles" button. After this, I navigated to the "GENERAL" tab and clicked on Board settings under "BOARD CONFIGURATION" on the left side. Under "Board style", I selected the custom style from drop-down lists next to "Default style:" and "Guest style:". I set "Override user style:" to "Yes" and confirmed my changes by clicking on the "Submit" button.

I wish everyone on this forum a happy Christmas or nice holidays (or whatever you're doing these last days of the year) and a healthy and prosperous 2023.

Don't stuff yourself with too much food and drinks. Take care!

Thanks, Selene! The only thing I forgot was to set Override user style to Yes! It works now with a nice dark style. Only the ACP is still in default style.

I figured out how to create custom BBCode. It's not that difficult, but you have to make the correct HTML replacements. Eventually I will get it all right. First the easier BBCode. Have created the horizontal line, the anchor and the goto BBCode, however, not yet working!

The custom styles don't style the backend of the board. You could either tweak the admin.css which is under adm/style or try this extension (I don't know if it's compatible with the latest version of phpBB).

OK thanks, I will leave it as is. Now struggling through the forum permission settings.

Today, I started to assemble the massive desk which my mother bought some weeks ago. As I'm doing everything alone, it takes a lot longer. I equipped most parts with pegs, furniture connectors (the ones with eccentric fittings), the drawer rails and the hinges for the door. And I finished the drawer. Tomorrow, I will equip the remaining wooden parts with the connectors/pegs and put everything together.
My mother will give me her old living room table in return (she already has a new one). This old table is height-adjustable and higher than my current living room table. Although it's years old (probably between 15 and 20 years, or more), her table is still in good shape (it consists of solid wood). She also offered me to drive me home transporting the table.

I wish you all the luck assembling the desk, but above all enjoy the job.

Thanks for the link. I already figured out most, but still have some issues. Learning by doing and making lots of errors, has always been the best way for me to get acquainted with something I'm not familiar with. The link profided me with a PDF, so I will be doing some reading.

I have created the anchor and goto BBCodes, but it doesn't work completely. At the top of the post it shows the plain code in the post, but further down the post it seems to work, but the goto code refers me to a page without the CSS styling and not to the linked anchor in the page. I've done something wrong somewhere, but I'll figure it out sometime.

Before I continued the assembly of the desk, my mom and I visited my grandpa having a nice get-together with cake and tea. I think he was very lucky seeing us. The only persons missing were my sister and her husband who had a big dispute with grandpa recently. I don't want to talk about the details. All I can say that grandpa is in the right and the fronts between them are simply too hardened for the time being. I hope they will settle the dispute in the future.

About two thirds of the desk have been completed. I will assemble the remaining parts tomorrow. I could have finished everything today but my back says no. I stop before it really starts to hurt. There are still enough days left to complete the assembly before I travel back home. So I don't need to hurry.
