When I tried to load the forum on localhost the next day, I only got a critical Mysql error message. Then I saw that the Mysql service isn't running and restarting it gave me the error "mysql shutdown unexpectedly". After I restored the backup from the mysql data folder, I could finally run the Mysql service but I still got the critical error message when I try to load the test forum. The final solution was importing a database backup of the forum's database, repairing the table "db" under the mysql main database and adding a missing database user with the right user permissions to the imported database.
That's something I never encountered during the time using XAMPP (some 10 years), but then I never used Apache and MySQL as a service! Just loaded the modules and received PIDs and Ports. As far as I can remember, just once I clicked the service checkboxes, but that didn't turn out well, but I have no recollection of the issues or results. Never used services again.

Sorry, I mixed something up. When I said "services" I actually meant "modules".

I never shutdown the modules. First I close the browser tab/window in which I test run and then choose Quit to shutdown XAMPP, before shutting down the PC. Quitting XAMPP should automatically close the modules.

I didn't quit XAMPP either before I shutdown the notebook. The only other things I did this day were a major Windows update and getting Windows Spotlight to show new images (it was stuck) with code snippets I found in the internet. Maybe I have broken something using these code snippets.

Following are some possible solutions I found on the internet:
1. Run XAMPP using administrator priveleges
2. Restore your database backup
3. Change your MySQL port

Hope this might help.

I already could solve the problem (found these steps as well but they were not enough to solve the problem, see quote at the bottom). I posted this subject to find out why this happened (I admit, I wasn't clear enough). But your suggestion can help others who have a similar problem ;).

Good day, all! Just slimmed across the issue you were having, Selene, and the responses by Albert, but since I no longer do websites my eyes and brain began to shut down - LOL! :sn-4: Glad you got the issue sorted out! :sn-35:

On the agenda for me today is some more playtime - everyone in my SSE game is at the Coffee House having a party - Etienne, Jenassa, Chacone, Hador, and Rayya, plus over 30 additional followers from mods; quite the crowd there! And, after this, I think it will be time to do my long talkws about readjustment to my existing build, and consequent start of a new game. Not looking forward to buying or rebuilding all the existing houses and redoing all the related quests needed for them - again! Bit, once the build ha be modified, that should be it for any further rebuilding of my mod list as a whole.

I feel really wicked sick right now. My doctor expressed the suspicion a long time ago that it could also be long covid. That seems to be confirmed now.
I am constantly tired, can not concentrate any longer work, even hobby work is not possible at the moment.
I will therefore reduce my activities a bit, slowly rebuild my Morrowind (Fallout 4 and Skyrim have to wait) and otherwise take it easy.
Therefore, it can be that I am not active here for days.

Spoiler
Don't blame me, I'm only human after all

That sucks, Ivanhoe. Get better soon! We will all be waiting here.
