How has your art evolved over time?

Post by Selene310187 »

The purpose of this thread is to show that everyone can improve their artistic skills if they don't give up trying and keep practicing. I believe that there's no "good" or "bad" art. Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder and different views make the world an interesting place.

Speaking of myself...
My problem was getting the proportions of the characters right (and some other things). I often drew their legs very close together like in this picture from 2002:

Then I bought art practice books and followed some guides regarding proportions and anatomy.

About one year later, my style changed to this:

(the arms are extra long allowing a wider grip and striking more frequently during combat)

Also the style of certain characters evolved:

Zedric's staff and Dark Lady's armor in the pictures from 2005 served as concept arts for 3d models which I built many years later:

(the models are part of Abyss Demon)

Nowadays, I mostly paint landscapes:

The first picture I showed you was not the beginning of my drawing "career". It all began in the late 90s when I discovered the anime series "Sailor Moon". I drew myself as a Sailor Moon character for example:

I'm curious to learn more about your journey as an artist.
